Ford’s Fathom base price is $29,945.

Ford’s Fathom emerges as an eagerly awaited electric pickup truck, blending affordability with a full feature set at a base price of $29,945. The vehicle is expected to be similar in size to the compact Ford Maverick.

While official pre-order access won’t launch until early 2027, Ford has already activated a “pre-order invite” waiting list. This early registration system allows potential buyers to secure their place in line for the initial production batch of Fathoms, offering priority access to those who sign up now.

Market Positioning

The Fathom targets a niche market segment where compact trucks remain scarce, particularly in electric form. Most existing small trucks rely on gasoline engines, creating an opening for Ford’s offering. Competitors like Slate’s upcoming electric pickup frequently draw comparisons due to overlapping price ranges and compact dimensions, though the Fathom distinguishes itself with an emphasis on standard equipment at its $29,945 starting price.

One standout capability is the Fathom’s bidirectional power system, enabling it to supply electricity to portable devices such as tools and camping accessories.

Standard Equipment and Technology

Inside, drivers will find a large touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Ford’s proprietary navigation system powered by Apple Maps. Standard features also include a digital key and remote control functionality through the Ford app.

BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free driving technology, will be available across all Fathom configurations but will require an additional activation fee, likely structured as a subscription service. Though interior details remain partially undisclosed, Ford confirms the four-door model will provide more passenger space than a Toyota RAV4.

The Fathom will utilize a 400-volt electrical system paired with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery to maintain its competitive pricing. Initial platform renderings suggest a rear-wheel-drive configuration, though the Fathom will also likely come with an all-wheel-drive setup.

Key performance metrics, including range, horsepower, torque, payload capacity, and charging speeds, have not been disclosed. However, Ford asserts the Fathom will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph as swiftly as a four-cylinder Mustang, hinting at spirited performance.
